Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) :

The scheme of Old Age Pension was started during 1974-75 in Mizoram. It was given to 150 Old Age persons @ Rs 30/-p.m. per person who have no supporters or near relatives to support them. Since 2006-2007 the NOAPS was renamed as Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme .Now beneficiaries who are 80 years and above enjoy  Rs.500/- per month while 80 years below a beneficiary of Old Age Pension enjoys Rs.200/- monthly. The Government of Mizoram provides Rs.50/- per month per beneficiary for Old Age Pension scheme.


The eligible age for IGNOAPS is 60 years. The pension is Rs.200 (central share) plus Rs. 100 (state contribution) with a total amount of Rs.300 per persons between 60 years to 79 years. Rs. 500 (central share) plus Rs. 100 (state contribution) with a total amount of Rs.600 for persons above 80 years. 

There are 17766 no. of beneficiaries between 60 to 79 years and 7448 no. of beneficiaries in the category of above 80 years, which total up to 24524 numbers of approved beneficiaries, who are receiving pension.
