First Celebration of Pawl Kut in Mizoram


        Pawl Kut was celebrated on 19th December, 2018 at A.R Ground, Aizawl under the Chairmanship of Pi K. Vanlalrawni, Secretary, Social Welfare Department with Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan, the Governor of Mizoram as Chief Guest and Minister of State i/c Social Welfare Department, Dr. K. Beichhua as Guest of Honour.

        Social Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram, with the support from Ministry of Tribal Affairs, organized Celebration of Pawl Kut for the first time in Mizoram. A huge gathering celebrated the festival with joy and happiness.

        The main objective is to safeguard the lifestyle and behavior of our ancestors, how the children used to play and how the ancestors sacrifice themselves for the protection of our Land. Also, in order to protect and maintain the beautiful culture which we inherited from our forefathers, its related songs and poems were sung and expressed on this day.

        In relation to the Celebration, exhibition cum sale of the materials and tools used by our ancestors for hunting, cultivation of land etc was organized at YMA Hall, Electric Veng, Aizawl and Photo Exhibition related to the culture and lifestyles of the Mizo’s in the early period was also organized at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl.
